Who we are
Buoy Up City Island began with a small group of neighbors looking to create spaces for real connection. In a busy world, it can be hard to meet and engage with the people living around us. Our goal has always been simple: help neighbors come together, get to know one another, and strengthen the bonds that make City Island feel like home.
Over the past year, we’ve built a roster of events that celebrate City Island and the people who live here. We’ve hosted Pride picnics, co-hosted the Sweetheart Hoedown with The Pearl and The American Legion, organized beach cleanups, and partnered with the City Island Yacht Club for the Witches Paddle. Every gathering is an opportunity for neighbors to meet, share a smile, and strengthen the connections that make our island community vibrant.
At Buoy Up City Island, we believe strong communities grow from knowing one another. When people connect with their neighbors, they share knowledge, lend support, and create resilience in the face of challenging times. Our work is about more than events, it’s about nurturing a sense of belonging, care, and joy in everyday life.
We’re proud to collaborate with local organizations, nonprofits, and volunteers, from the Hutchinson River Restoration Project to neighborhood clubs, to make these moments possible. Through these partnerships, we expand the reach and impact of our work, ensuring that everyone has the chance to be part of the rhythm of island life.
Looking ahead, our vision is simple: create community events that get everyone out of their homes, learning from one another, sharing experiences, and truly caring for their neighbors. Every picnic, paddle, or dance is another step toward a City Island where connection, inclusion, and community thrive.
